Luxurious Obsessions!

(Before I get started, I'm still having issues with my links.  Blogger people out there.....I prefer to have my links pop up into a new window (which they used to do). I must have changed a setting without knowing it.  Can somebody tell me how to fix it?

So, today is a little different than my normal Friday post. 

Instead of highlighting 3 obsessions,
I'm highlighting an assortment of items that are pricey enough to label a luxury item.

I like the word luxury.

The word conjures up all sorts of feelings of happiness.
Right?
Bad word = ointment
(Are you guys watching Duck Dynasty?  HILARIOUS.)
Good word = luxury

You get different feelings when you say them don't you?!?

(Sorry for saying ointment, but I though it would highlight my point nicely.)

So....here..on the 5th day of my Christmas series....
I am going to feature some luxury items.

I thought it was appropriate since this is where we would normally sing "5 Golden Rings!"

On the FIFTH day of Christmas my true love sent to me......

So....for those of you that are maybe lucky enough to get a luxury item under your Christmas tree, I thought I would highlight some of the things that I would NOT be mad if I received.

Nope, I wouldn't be mad at all.

Are you listening?  hubby? sister? in-laws? mom? dad? anybody?
I'm not taking CRAZY splurges,
but I am talking about super nice items that are between $100 and $500.
You know, items that would make you squeal if you opened one!

First up, some lovelies from Jared.

My 5 year anniversary ring, my drop necklace that I got for my 30th birthday, and my sapphire ring I got for Christmas 3 years ago are all from Jared.

I LOVE all of them.

They are sparkly and oh so pretty.

Plus, do you know what the best part about them is?

When somebody compliments me on one of these items I get to say

"He got it at Jared!"

Next, let's all drool some over some Frye boots.

Let's pay particular attention to THESE BABIES.

I LOVE the details on these.

I am a BIG FAN of distressed brown leather.
For some reason, this one particular color is on sale.  I don't know why, but I'm not going to ask questions.
I'm assuming these babies are going to fly off the shelf at this price.
People scream and shout over Frye boots.  And I never really got it.

However, I started paying attention to some bloggers that wear them all the time,
 and my interest kicked up a bit.
Then I saw the boots above.

Now I want a pair.

I feel like I would wear it constantly.

My eyes were opened to Fossil when my sister worked for them several years ago.

Until then, I thought Fossil was just leather and quilted patchwork bags.

Well...no more friends.

I have 3 of their purses.  In fact, they are the only purses I have carried for the past 3 years.  

(I might have stolen 1 or 2 of them from aforementioned sister.  

But nothing has been proven in a court of law.)

I have a black one, a rust colored one, and a Kelly green one.  

I get compliments on all of them constantly.

I have a pair of leopard flats that I wear all the time.  I got them from Target last year, but they are on their last leg.  They were one season shoes for sure, but they were only $12, so that's okay!  I didn't want to spend a lot on my first pair of leopard shoes, because I wasn't really sure how much I was going to wear them.  Well, now I know that I wear them CONSTANTLY.
So, now I don't mind spending a little more on them.

I think these are going to be my new go to shoes.  

I like their pointy toe which makes them super modern!

I have this one sweater from the LOFT that I really loved when I bought it.

However, when I got it home and started trying to wear it, there were 2 things I didn't like about it.

1)  It was shorter than I liked.

2)  It had a very wide neckline.

So, each and every time I put it on, I would take it off before walking out the door.

Not any more!

Think of it as an early Christmas present.

This is really, really, really good.
Epic, really.

Let me set it up for you.

When Carter was 3 years old, we went to Sam's
(for those of you not familiar, it's a wholesale store where you buy in bulk).

Now, at our Sam's, a little old man stands at the door that you exit from.

His only purpose is to check the receipt against the items in your cart to make sure that everything is accounted for.

There are several different little old men who do this.  

But this particular job is always filled by a man, and he is definitely grandpa age.

Well, if a child is in your cart, the little old man draws a picture on the back of the receipt for the kid.

A simple smiley face is typically what gets drawn, and I don't know why, but Carter always loves it.

On this particular day, the little old man handed the receipt handed the receipt back to me without a picture on it. 

Carter looked at him like he was crazy and he handed the receipt back to him for his picture.

The little old man chuckled, drew a pic, and then handed the receipt back to Carter.

Carter squealed with delight and glee.

This was the picture:

A nice smiley face, right?

Well, Carter continued to laugh, squeal, and be SUPER excited about his picture.

And then, he said this, 

in a VERY loud voice I might add.....

Wait for it.....

"Look Mommy, he draw boobies!"

Ummmm.

What?

 Do you see it?

Cover up the smiley face and just look at what are supposed to be the eyes and the eyeballs.

Well, that's not what Carter saw.

Carter saw some seriously saggy (anatomically correct) boobies.

Listen.
The kid must have been looking at National Geographic magazines when I wasn't looking,
because those certainly don't look like MY boobies.

I gave a little 1/2 smile to the grandpa,
a little nervous laugh about 23 octaves higher than my normal voice squeaked out,
 and I died a little inside.
I didn't make eye contact with a soul,
and I slinked away to the car with my boob loving 3 year old.
 I laughed until I cried, called all of my friends and family, and put it in the baby book immediately.
And I totally stand by the fact that those are not my boobies.

Hola, Pinterest Told Me To readers! 

I'm Alison from Get Your Pretty On and I'm thrilled to be guest posting at Sheaffer's blog.

 Sheaffer and I met through bloggy land and hit it off immediately. We both have golden retrievers, met our hubbies 19 years ago and when we realized we lived near one another, we knew we just had to meet up in real life!
We had our first official "blate" (date with a blog friend) recently and it went swimmingly. 

Trust me when I say that she is just as cute and sweet in person as she is in the blogosphere. 

When Sheaffer asked me to re-create some outfits from Pinterest,
I saw an opportunity for sweet redemption. 

You see, Pinterest to me is a big ol' guilt trip. 

A constant reminder of all of the cool stuff I've pinned yet never done. 

 Recipes I swore I'd make, outfits I wanted to re-create, craft ideas that I went as far as buying the supplies for but never attempted. 

Pinterest tells me that I'm an underachiever, a disappointment, a let down. 

 It hurts my self-esteem. 

Well, my dears, that's all about to change.

 I will shout it from the roof tops, 

"I am NOT a failure, Pinterest. I pinned it AND did it!"

Ladies, I now present to you my very first Pinterest re-creations!
 In one of my recent pinning frenzies, I found two looks featuring chambray shirts and fell in love with both. The best part is I was able to re-create them using stuff I already own. My chambray shirt from H&M has been one of my favorite purchases this season. It's versatility never ceases to amaze me. Have you ever seen an outfit and said "YES, that is SO me!" Well this one is it. The riding boots, the pearls and cardigan - it's a classic that will never go out of style.

Did I happen to mention that I'm a Target addict? Well, if not, then this outfit pretty much proves it. The yellow sweater, necklace, bracelets, jeans and belt are all Tar-zhay and were $20 and under! The boots are Loft (last year).

This second look is completely effortless and oh so comfy!
 I'd seriously live in tank tops and leggings if I could.
Start with that as the base, throw on a chambray shirt, scarf and your favorite boots...

and voila!

 The leggings are from Marshall's, the tank is Forever 21, the boots are from Target (last year), the scarf was bought in Mexico and the gold watch is from New York & Company. 

Every piece of this outfit was $20 or under, except the chambray shirt which was $24.99.

It is pinned from a super cute blog called Katie Did What.
I tried that look already (in fact, I tried to recreate that exact picture), 
and it didn't work for me.
However, after seeing your picture, now I know why!
My denim shirt doesn't taper up on the sides like yours and the inspiration pics does.
I think that is the key to making that outfit work!
However, even though my shirt doesn't taper up, I feel it necessary to again profess my love for it.
I mean....is there a more versatile piece of clothing out there?

And I thought I would leave you with 1 image from this weekend.

I went to the country with my family for Thanksgiving, and right when I got out of bed on Friday morning, I put on a pair of flip flops to walk around in the ranch house 

so my socks wouldn't get dirty.

The sister-in-law looked at me like "really?" and asked "Did Pinterest tell you to do that?"
Everybody's a comedian.  ;)

On second thought...maybe those Naturalizer sandals would be good for me after all.:)
